What We Collect

Scuba collects limited app usage data only if you choose to opt in during onboarding or in Settings. No analytics data is sent unless you opt in.

When analytics are enabled, we may collect:

• A random app-generated user ID used only to group anonymous analytics events
• Which books you open and approximate reading progress
• Reading sessions, including start time, approximate duration, pages read and progress reached
• App interactions such as text-size selections, bookstore browsing, downloads and chapter or book completion
• Technical context such as device category, OS version, app version and app build, to help diagnose compatibility issues

Scuba does not collect your name, email address, phone number, precise location, contacts, photos, microphone data, payment details, the text you read, the text of highlights or notes you make, or any other personal reading content.

How We Use It

Usage data is used solely for analytics to improve Scuba, including book selection, text-size defaults, reading experience reliability and understanding which features readers use.

Data is sent to Scuba's secure analytics service. It is not linked to your identity and is not used to track you across apps or websites.

What We Do Not Do

• We do not sell your personal data.
• We do not share data with advertising networks.
• We do not use analytics data for cross-app or cross-website tracking.
• We do not collect contact info, payment details, purchase history, location, advertising identifiers, crash data, performance data, browsing history or search history.
• We do not read, collect, upload or index the text of your reading sessions, highlights or notes.
• We do not build individual behavioural profiles for advertising or targeting purposes.

Your Control

You can turn analytics off at any time in Settings → Privacy within the app. Turning analytics off stops future analytics data being sent.

Data Retention

Analytics data is retained for a limited period to inform product decisions and is not kept indefinitely. We do not retain analytics data once it is no longer needed for the purpose it was collected.

Children

Scuba is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect analytics data from children.
